Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is one of the most effective and 100% natural ways to reduce inflammation, accelerate wound healing, and improve physical and mental performance.
Our body cannot survive without oxygen. Organic tissues need an optimal supply of oxygen to function normally. Lack of oxygen can lead to reduced blood flow, tissue damage, premature aging, hair loss, and even memory problems. Injured cells and tissues need additional oxygen to regenerate and survive.
Most diseases and injuries occur – and persist – at the cellular level. In cases of chronic wounds, strokes or circulatory disorders, oxygen has difficulty reaching the affected parts of the body, and natural healing is slowed or prevented.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy naturally addresses this problem – by increasing the amount of oxygen available to tissues. When cells are supplied with enough oxygen, they are healthier, stronger and more resilient.
What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)?
HBOT is a procedure in which a person breathes pure medical oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber, at elevated atmospheric pressure (1.5 to 2 ATA). In this way, the body receives many times more oxygen than is possible under normal conditions.
This increased pressure allows the lungs to absorb more oxygen, which then dissolves in the blood plasma and penetrates deep into the tissues, stimulating cell renewal, circulation, and the body’s natural defense mechanisms.
The air we breathe every day contains approximately 21% oxygen. Under normal circumstances, cells use only about 25% of this oxygen in their mitochondria – the cellular “powerhouses” that produce the energy (ATP – adenosine triphosphate) needed for life.
Under standard conditions, arterial oxygen levels are around 100 mmHg. In a hyperbaric chamber, under a pressure of 1.5 – 2 ATA, this level can rise to 1400 mmHg – as much as 14 times higher than normal.
Such pressure allows oxygen to not only reach the bloodstream, but also penetrate deeper into cells and tissues, stimulating energy production and accelerating regeneration.
Oxygen therapy that allows you to breathe deeply in pure oxygen under increased pressure. This therapy is used to:
1. Increased oxygen perfusion – (Immediate increase in free oxygen available for use in tissues)
2. Neovascularization – Angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels)
3. Increased white blood cell function (enhanced neutrophil and macrophage activity)
4. Nerve healing factors (increase in VegF, BDNF, HIF1)
5. Wound healing – Increased healing capacity (PDGF, VegF, collagen production, circulatory healing)
6. Stem cell production (up to an eightfold increase in mesenchymal and CNS stem cells)
7. Vasoconstriction (reduction in edema and swelling of damaged tissues)
8. Mitochondrial healing (increase in mitochondrial size, shape and number)
9. Anti-inflammatory (reduction in inflammatory cytokines, increase in anti-inflammatory cytokines)
10. Antimicrobial/microbiome balancing (reduction in anaerobic pathogens and increase in aerobic probiotics)
I. What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)?
A. Definition of
HBOT involves inhaling a high concentration of oxygen (90–100%) at elevated atmospheric pressure.
B. Purpose of therapy
The goal is to increase the level of oxygen in the affected tissues, thereby:
C. Staff
Our professional and trained staff cares about your safety and comfort. The doctor manages the entire therapy process. Technicians are present throughout the treatment and available for all your questions and needs.
II. What can you expect during the treatment (deep dive)?
A. Preparation
B. Lowering (pressurization)
C. During the stay at depth
D. Lifting (pressure reduction)
III. How to equalize the pressure in the ears?
The increase in pressure is most often felt in the ears. Here are some ways to equalize it:
Important: If you experience pain or discomfort in your ears, notify the technician immediately so they can slow down the process and allow the pressure to equalize.
IV. Security
A. Chamber Safety
We use high-quality single-place chambers that allow for individual treatment. Therapies are performed by trained technicians, and a doctor is always available.
B. Your role
You are also an important factor in safety – please follow the instructions of the staff and abide by the rules.
C. Prohibited materials and objects in the chamber:
V. Smoking and therapy
A. Smoking (and passive smoking) during therapy is absolutely not recommended .
B. If you do smoke, it is recommended not to smoke 2 hours before and 2 hours after therapy to achieve maximum effect.
VI. Alcohol consumption
Alcohol, especially in large quantities, can lower the oxygen tolerance threshold and interfere with the healing process. Alcohol consumption is not recommended immediately before or after treatment.
VII. Cold or flu
If you have cold or flu symptoms, please inform the staff before your treatment . If necessary, the treatment will be postponed to avoid worsening your symptoms.
VIII. Diabetes and HBOT
If you have diabetes, it is important to monitor your blood sugar levels and report any symptoms of hypoglycemia immediately. Feel free to ask the staff for help in controlling your sugar levels during your treatment.
